I have come to realize that every country has its own beautiful traditions and national pride. There are many high-quality creations around the world, and Japanese pottery is one of them.
I want people to learn about Japanese dinnerware, which has been refined for over a thousand years. I hope they experience not only its appearance and sound but also the feel and scent. Just like people around the world, I also have pride in my culture. It would bring me great joy if Valued Customer could appreciate the wonderful traditions of Japan.
Japan's Social Issues
Currently, the number of handmade ceramics in Japan is decreasing, and the decline in the number of skilled artisans is one of the reason. Japan is facing one of the most severe aging and declining birthrate challenges globally.
Traditionally, the art of ceramics has been passed down from older generations to the younger ones. However, modern Japan lacks enough young people to carry on these traditional techniques. Several traditions in Japan are already on the verge of disappearing. Yet, Japanese products still maintain a reputation for high quality. When people from various countries are introduced to Japanese ceramics, they are often highly satisfied. This is the social issue that Japan Classic faces.
Through Japan Classic, we aim to spread awareness this particular issue around the world. We hope that by learning about it, young people will become interested in Japanese ceramics and traditions. Those who carry on this tradittion do not have to be Japanese.
